Correct Use of HRD-150H Hardness Tester

Preparation before the test

The surface of the tested part shall be smooth and clean, and shall not be contaminated with dirt, scale, back pit and significant processing

traces, the support surface of the test piece and the test bench should be clean and kept in good closeness. The thickness of the test piece is greater than about 10 times the depth of the indentation.

According to the shape and size of the test piece, choose the appropriate test bench. If the test piece is shaped, it can be designed and manufactured according to the specific geometry. (The company has a variety of test benches, users can choose as needed),so that the hardness test has an accurate indication.


Panel display window and key functions

Display window I is the hardness indication display, unit HR. The display window II is the scale display, and the display window III is the hold time display (press the No> key to display as the test number, and the hardness tester enters the hold time display after starting work).

1, 2, and 3 indicators indicate the three test forces corresponding to the nine scales of the Rockwell hardness test. If the A scale is used, the corresponding 588 indicator lights up. Generally, the C scale is a common scale, and is automatically displayed when the power is turned on.

4 indicates that the number of pre-selected hardness test times is completed, the indicator light is on, at this time the record can be printed or the <H> key can be pressed to display the hardness average.

Note: After the hardness test point exceeds the pre-selected number of times, the hardness value printed after the “OVER” indication is not counted, only the pre-selected print points are printed or counted.

SETUP-scale selection button, 9 scales of Rockwell hardness are selected and displayed by display window II.

No-test number button, displayed by the display window, press the No button, the load-keeping time display window III becomes the pre-selection window for the hardness test times. To increase or decrease, press the <TIME+>, <TIME-> button. The number of tests is preselected less than 20 times, and the first point of the test is not recorded or printed by the local computer system.

L.D-hardness tester before the factory debugging button, the user does not need this button for normal operation.

The average value of the H-hardness test. Displayed by display window I (this button can only be used when the "OVER"" indicator 4 is lit).

RESETT-Reset button. Delete all data stored on this unit.

CLR-clear key. Eliminate the errors currently entered and retain the previous data.

TIME+  DWELL TIME key, each time you press 1 to display, it is displayed by display window III.

Hardness tester Operation sequence

Turn on the power, start the switch, the panel displays the hardness C scale, and the holding time is 5 seconds.

(The number of tests is 5 times), the indicator 3 is lit (the above shows the default state of the machine).

According to the technical requirements of the test piece, the scale is selected, that is, indenter type and test force range. Press < SETUP> to select the scale. Each time you press it, the display window I displays C→D→E→F→G→H→K→A→B. Then turn the variable handwheel (11) clockwise to determine the total test force.

Press <TIME+> and <TIME-> to select the hold time.

Press the <No> key first, then press the <TIME+> key and the <TIME-> key to select the number of operations.

Install the indenter in the rod hole, close the bearing surface, tighten the indenter fastening screw slightly, and place the test piece on the test bench.

Rotate the rotary wheel clockwise, the lifting screw rises, and when the pressure head comes into contact with the test piece, the screw is slowly and smoothly raised until the display window I shows between 295 and 305, and the hardness tester starts to load → load → unload, automatically complete Testing process.






Hardness indication accuracy adjustment

The tester can adjust the structure based on the principle of the instrument.

Method: Remove the top cover. If the measured value is lower than the standard hardness block, loosen the nut, tighten the screw clockwise, then tighten the nut, and then test the indication until it is within the specified error range; if the measured value is higher than the standard hardness block value, loosen the screw in the opposite direction.

Note: If the value of the display exceeds 305, the machine will give a “drip” sound alarm. At this time, lower the screw, the test piece moves the test position, and the test is repeated.

When the main test force of the hardness tester is completely removed, the “drop” sound is heard, and the value displayed in the window I is the hardness value. At this time, the rotating wheel can be rotated counterclockwise to make the pressure head out of the tested part. If the machine is automatically reset to zero, the end of one test cycle ends (sometimes if the automatic zero is not reset, press <CLR> to reset the zero).

If you want to continue testing, you can follow the bad operation.


If you select the local printout, wait for the “OVER” indicator 4 to light up, then press the <PRNNI> key directly, the printer will automatically print out the statistics.
